Reared in nearby fields close to our HQ, this wool has been spun using the fleece of our very own flock.
The flock of lovely Romney Marsh ladies was welcomed into the Marriner family in the summer of 2018, and since then they have truly settled in as we have sheared them and seen them raise their first little lambs.
After each shearing, their fleece was carefully gathered, and then taken to be washed, processed, and finally, spun into our very own 100% natural Aran wool. You can’t get more traditional than that.
The Romney Marsh sheep are renowned for their adaptable fleece, which has a semi-lustrous appearance, and a lovely natural cream colour. It’s also considered to be of finer quality at around 32 microns – whereas other typical sheep breeds are around 50 microns.
We are very proud to offer our first home-grown 100% wool product to our customers – as well as continuing to offer Marriner’s trademark excellent value.
Our beautiful Romney wool is also available in Double Knit.
Please note; as the wool is dependent on seasonal shearing, and our flock is not large, this wool may be strictly limited edition until the next batch of fleece is processed and spun.
